The Government destroyed over 1000 isolates of Poliovirus at KEMRI

Health and Interior & Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretaries Day at KEMRI


This is my point: Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Joseph Nkaissery (right) stresses a point as his Ministry of Health colleague, Dr. Cleopa Mailu (centre) and Acting Director KEMRI, Dr. Gerald Mkoji listen. This was during a visit in KEMRI on 15th April 2016 to assess the security situation at the Institute.

This is my point: Cabinet Secretary of Health Dr. Cleopa Mailu addressing the press as his Interior and Coordination of National Government colleague, Hon. Joseph Nkaissery (center) and Acting Director KEMRI, Dr. Gerald Mkoji (immediate left) and other senior officials from the two ministries and Institute staff listen. This was during a visit in KEMRI on 15th April 2016 to assess the security situation at the Institute.

US National Cancer Institute Centre for Global Health Experts Visits KEMRI


Acting Director, KEMRI Dr. Gerald Mkoji poses for a group photograph with Ms. Kalina Duncan from the US National Cancer Institute Centre for Global Health (US NCI,CGH) when she paid a courtesy call on him at KEMRI Headquarters. In the picture from left is Dr. Leah Kirumbi, Acting Director Centre for Clinical Research, KEMRI, Ms. Mishka Cira, Kenya Country Consultant, US NCI,CGH , Ms. Anne Korir, Head Cancer Registry Unit at KEMRI and Mr. Nathan Brand, Ms. Hillary Topazian, Ms. Camille Morgan, all from the US National Cancer Institute Centre for Global Health.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss possible collaboration between KEMRI and the US NCI,CGH that will strengthen the Cancer Registries in Kenya. The visit was a follow-up to the 2014 National Cancer Stakeholders Meeting.
