SIX MAIN RESEARCH PROGRAMS AT KEMRI

KEMRI has revised its research Programmes from Four (4) to six (6) Main Programmes, that are aligned to the KEMRI Strategic Master Plan and the Vision 2030 as follows:-

Biotechnology

To promote, harness and apply biotechnology for the discovery and development of tools and strategies for use in medicine and healthcare.

Traditional Medicine & Drug Development

To Identify and develop effective traditional/alternative medicines and drugs for use against human diseases.

Infectious and Parasitic Diseases

To conduct research aimed at developing tools and technologies for reduction disease burden due to infectious and parasitic agents.

Public Health and Health Systems

To conduct multi-displinary epidemiology, biostatistician, environmental, occupational, nutritional, social, dental population and health systems and policy.

Non Communicable Diseases

To conduct basic, clinical, operational, implementation and applied research in all matters related to non-commmunicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes, lifestyle diseases, mental health etc.

Sexual, reproductive & Child Health

To conduct basic, clinical, operational, implementation and applied research in all matters related to sexual, reproductive and child health
