Although plans are still at advanced stage for their partnership, the Equity Bank Ltd will first start enrolling scientists and researchers on its mobile phone platform as soon as the service is rolled out.

The Bank, said Dr. Kipng’etich is eager to forge mutual beneficial partnerships with the Institute for the benefit of not just KEMRI, but all Kenyans because of the pivotal role of the institute in health research in Kenya and the region. “It would be a pleasure for the largest banks this region to join hands with the leading research institute for the benefit of humanity”, said Kipng’etich when he paid a courtesy call at Director, KEMRI, Prof. Solomon Mpoke recently.

He was accompanied to KEMRI by the bank’s General Manager, Ms. Agnes Wanjuki and Mr.Hezron Gikonyo, a Branch Manager, Equity Community Corporate Branch. Deputy Director in Charge of Administration & Finance, Ms. Linah Boit and Mr. Antony Wachira, Assistant Director in charge of Finance, were also present.

Dr. Kipng’etich and his team also took time to up-date the senior management in KEMRI on the progress towards their anticipated launch of their mobile phone and the opportunities the new network would present to KEMRI fraternity, as well as Kenyans.
